How do I covertly break my roommates speakers?

Question

How do I covertly break my roommates speakers?
He turns them way up and leaves, its war!

Answer

Sounds to me like you need a new roommate if it has come to this. I hope you dont mean to actually break his speakers, just harmlessly disable them for the time being. Magnets will not work and he would catch most obvious efforts such as disconnecting the speaker wires. I suggest trying to change the hookup on the back of his receiver. If the receiver has a quotspeaker Bquot system change the speakers to these connections. It will take him a while to catch that one. If you want to risk being liable for a new receiver try causing just a small portion of bare positive and negative speaker wires to touch at some terminal. In most cases this will cause the receiver to go into protect mode no power output. Your roommate may catch on to this though and you run the risk of blowing his receiver. I would urge you to just get a new roommate. Dont lower yourself to destruction of property. You can be sure that even the covert techniques I have recommended will eventually be discovered and hostilities will escalate between you. No guy wants someone messing with his audio gear. Thats serious trouble.
